It was Monday… April had begun so had the the week. Mum-dad had gone to Delhi to attend a big fat Punjabi wedding of my uncle so I and didi had to cook ourselves or eat the left overs of the previous day. Being too lazy to cook and procrastinating to order it had struck 11:30 and no restaurant in the city was ready to entertain us at this hour of time.

So , we headed towards a Dhaba. More than the ambiance , the fact that sucks is that it had 4-5 young boys for cleaning , serving and for running errands. Those shabbily dressed , tangled hair guys with earnest eyes greeted us and then cleaned our table.Throughout the process of taking the order, serving and then cleaning they gave us broad grins and talked to us with the softest tone in a gentlemanly manner .While leaving I gave some cash to the boys as “Tip” but they refused to accept it telling that they won’t take money beyond the services they have offered.Upon asking them if there was anything with which I could provide , the guys requested me to give them some old school books if I had any.I was astounded and asked whether they go to school. They further told me that they were just completing their night shift cause their parents didn’t have enough money to make them study. I was moved and felt way too much blessed.I bade them goodbye and went there the next morning to give stationery along with books to the guys. I gave them my contact and told them to contact me whenever they needed anything related to their studies. They were grateful and said Thank You ( in a singing smiling way).

Child labor is a serious penance for those angelic souls who are still in the process of growing up.These children are deprived of primary education and exposed to mental and physical dangers. The curse of child labour has deeply penetrated in Indian society. The physical and mental agony a child goes through is quite distressing .
Inadequate number of schools, poverty, and lack of literacy among the parents are some of the causes of child labour.

Among these, poverty is the single most dominating stimulant of Child Labour. Despite of their unwillingness they are forced to work as young wage earners for their family. They are made to work hard without getting adequate remuneration. Since the school facilities are inadequate, children often don’t find any other meaningful alternative.
The solution to the problem of Child Labor are:
1) The Child labor laws need to be strictly enforced by the Government.
2) Though several NGOs have been set up still the general public should themselves come forward to help these little friends of ours.
3) An increase in employment opportunity for adults would help in overcoming the problem of poverty and child labor.
4) Government should ensure that every child gets the opportunity to go to school.

My dearest friends, we should be aware in detail about this problem and take some positive steps to remove this issue which is a slur and a blot on the society. As being citizens of the country, we are highly responsible towards the growth and development of the country, so we should work positively in the fields encouraging it to go ahead.
